Skating...

Took my kids, my niece and my daughter's best friend to the roller skating rink the other day. There was the debate in the car whether it was better to rent the four-wheel roller skates or the inline skates. With the four wheels there'a a wider wheel base and you don't get those wobbly ankles but with the inline skates there's a longer wheel base. Dad recommended the inlines because of the longer wheel base (less likelihood of falling backwards). So inline skates it was for them all, well, except Ry who didn't even want to give skating a try. Their first moments on the rink was a good one. It was the clutch the side railing conga line. Then it was the slowly let go and bum on the floor move. They soon got the hang of it. Watching them skate reminded me of my childhood. I remember having those white roller skates with red and blue stripes. My best friend Kai and I would go to the local school playground and skate. We didn't have the nice smooth roller rink with disco lights, but we still had a lot of fun.
